TP has caught several students vaping during a trial of vape detectors on campus, with offenders facing disciplinary action. The trial aims to assess the sensors’ effectiveness and suitability for wider use, alongside stepped-up patrols to curb e-vaporiser use. Among other institutes of higher learning, RP said it has no plans to install such detectors, while SP will “continue to assess” their potential use. NYP, NP, and ITE did not respond to queries on whether they will adopt similar measures. The move follows international trends, with schools in Britain and the US also deploying vape sensors to deter student vaping.
