SP students developed ‘Mend’, an AI-powered app that helps people with speech and communication difficulties participate in conversations. The app uses images to understand the surroundings, suggests suitable responses and plays the selected response in the user’s own voice. The project, developed with MINDS and SPD, won third prize at the Dell Innovate Fest. Meanwhile, an SUTD team won second prize with ‘Bloom Up’, an app designed to help people with disabilities learn to perform daily tasks independently.
