After graduating with a Diploma in Experience and Communication Design at SP, Mohamed Ilzymanshah Kamarudin founded a start-up called Assistive Technologies – because his younger brother, Mohamed Ilhanshah Kamarudin, 11, has autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a developmental and neurological disorder that affects the way individuals communicate, interact, learn, and behave. The difficulty of contacting Ilhanshah when he is outside inspired Mr Ilzymanshah to design an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) application – @Messenger – to facilitate communication between his mother and younger brother. He was assisted by his younger brother, Mr Irhamshah Kamarudin, a third-year Diploma in Information Technology student at SP, and his friend, Mr Muhammad Husaini Muhammad Haizal Bonawi, 21, as a software assistant. The @Messenger app will be launched through the App Store and Google Store in January 2025.
