Singapore Polytechnic Empowers 500 Youths to Reimagine Singapore's Future at Polytechnic Forum 2025

SINGAPORE, 15 September 2025 – Singapore Polytechnic (SP) hosted the Polytechnic Forum 2025 (PF2025) today, a key event within the SG Youth Plan and a fundamental pillar of the SG60 celebrations.

The Forum, themed ‘Our Home Our Singapore,’ brought together 500 youths from the five polytechnics to discuss critical national issues and reimagine Singapore as the city that they will want to call home. This event is designed to inspire students to “reimagine, remix, and rebuild” the nation’s future. Over five days, more than 500 participants from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, and Temasek Polytechnic will participate in curated experiences.

Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education and Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration, was the Guest of Honour for the Opening Ceremony and kicked off the discussion on Singapore’s future with a closed-dialogue session with forum participants. Through talks, learning journeys, and breakout sessions, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the complexities of leadership and the importance of making well-informed choices.

Director of Singapore Polytechnic’s Department of Student Development, Ms Evelynn Koh, said, “The Polytechnic Forum 2025 serves as a crucial platform for our young leaders to reflect on our nation-building journey. As our youth embrace their role as active citizens and engage in passionate discussions, we believe their innovative ideas will fuel the next chapter of our Singapore story, which resonates with our shared values and aspirations.”

To offer a unique and engaging experience, PF2025 features a strategy and management simulation game called "Red Dot City: Crossroads (A Game of Trade Offs)". The game was developed by five alumni from SP’s Diploma in Media, Arts and Design (MAD). Playing the game for the first time on such a large scale, youth will step into roles of policymakers to navigate complex challenges and make critical decisions that will shape the nation's future. By confronting problems with no definitive solutions, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the complexities of leadership, the importance of making well-informed choices, and the need for thoughtful decision-making for Singapore’s long-term benefit.

The forum will culminate with a closing ceremony on 19 September 2025, where Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment will be the Guest of Honour. The best ideas generated during the simulation game  will  be presented to Dr Puthucheary during the gallery walkthrough.
