I believe life offers countless opportunities, but it is up to us to actively seize them. In Singapore, these opportunities are abundant. Since primary school, I’ve taken leaps of faith to pursue projects that taught me how to think creatively and critically. Through technology and electronics, I explored innovative solutions, such as using Raspberry Pis to automate homes and creating flashing LED strips with Arduino boards.  These ad hoc explorations ignited my passion for electronics and led me to apply to the School of Science and Technology, Singapore (SST). At SST, I deepened my interest in technology and electronics, and even sat for the GCE ‘O’ level Electronics paper. Along the way, I joined the aviation co-curricular activity, which opened a whole new world of possibilities and joy for me. Indeed, I enjoyed it so much that I applied for the early admission to Singapore Polytechnic to pursue a Diploma in Aerospace Electronics.

Simultaneously, I earned my wings at the Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC). The journey to attain a Private Pilot Licence was fraught with challenges but ultimately shaped me into a stronger, more resilient individual.  During my training, I faced repeated setbacks, particularly in ground school examinations. Failing several papers dented my confidence and morale but giving up was uncharacteristic of me. Having come that far, I felt I needed to grind through no matter if the odds were stacked against me. Through reflection, I identified areas that needed more focus. This process ultimately became stepping stones for my subsequent improvement. With determination and perseverance, I pushed on, studied harder, and eventually passed all the required papers to earn my Private Pilot Licence. What a joy it was when I held by Licence for the first time!

At Singapore Polytechnic, I served as the President of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Club (EEEC). To foster a vibrant and inclusive school environment, I led the team to participate actively in various activities such as food donation drives and meal deliveries. Gathering over 300 SP students, we collected necessities and distributed them to lower-income households and delivered hot meals to elderly recipients. Because I believe that being able to help is a privilege, I encouraged and inspired my members to dedicate their time and energy to community services. Indeed, even small actions can create meaningful impact.

Finally, I also encouraged my members to organise events that would enrich the SP school experience because I think that we should try to strike a balance between working hard and enjoying life. To this end, we’ve hosted events ranging from e-sports tournaments featuring popular games like Valorant to nature trail hikes, providing opportunities for students to unwind and explore Singapore’s hidden gems. For all these, I was honoured to receive the SP Excellence Award before I graduated. This recognition motivates me till this day, to continue to create meaningful change, wherever I may be placed.
