I graduated from SP in 2024 with a Diploma in Accountancy (with Merit) and am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in business administration at the National University of Singapore. As part of my university studies, I am residing at the College of Alice and Peter Tan (CAPT), where the focus of the college revolves around active citizenship and community engagement. This is in line with my goal of becoming an audit partner in the future, which I became certain of when I interned at Deloitte and gained more practical accounting know-hows. It enabled me to see how critical the role of the auditor is and that greatly inspired me.
As an auditor, I believe that I can contribute to Singapore through my profession in the form of ensuring the correctness of the figures presented. Given how technical knowledge is crucial, I hope to be able to build on the concepts acquired in polytechnic and to obtain the relevant qualifications to fulfil my aspiration. Apart from my future career goals, I hope to continue to volunteer in community initiatives actively to value-add to my community. As I explore working with a diverse range of communities, I hope to create meaningful experiences and make a positive difference in the lives of people.
As an SP Undergraduate Scholar who is adaptable, forward-looking and meticulous, I feel motivated to expand my efforts in service-learning, which I have developed a passion for since my polytechnic days. As a driven individual who strives for excellence in all that I do, I hope to make a difference to my country. The joy that I experienced caring for my younger siblings nurtured my interest in mentoring children, hence the decision to join the Singapore Polytechnic (SP) Mentoring Club where I was able to reach out meaningfully to children from less vulnerable circumstances. The experiences inspired me to eventually lead the club and a Youth Expedition Project (YEP) to Chiang Mai.
Given the leadership camps that I participated in as part of the SPOT and EDGE programme, I was able to provide strong leadership and spearhead various initiatives that involved engaging with new partners and conducting facilitation activities. These events made me realise that the depth of our impact is not necessarily measured by the size of our actions. Just by being genuinely present for these children, we can help them grow over time. As a proud recipient of the SP Undergraduate Scholarship, I hope to inspire my peers to leave a positive impact on Singapore. This can be achieved by continuing my active participation in various communities such as those the college organises -- CAPTSLAM Queensway and the Community Engagement (CE) Festival. Finally, I wish to inspire others to become better versions of themselves, and pay it forward, so that the loop of kindness and good deeds will never end.
Believe in yourself and everything will turn out fine.
