Civil Engineering Students Shine at ACI Singapore Concrete Panel Competition 2026

Students from Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE) at the School of Architecture & the Built Environment (ABE) achieved an impressive showing at the American Concrete Institute – Singapore Chapter Concrete Panel Competition 2026, securing Gold, Silver, Bronze, Merit, and Commendation awards.

The competition challenged participants from Institutes of Higher Learning to push the boundaries of concrete performance. Their concrete panels were evaluated based on flexural strength, compressive strength relative to density, and the incorporation of recycled waste materials.

Our award recipients were:

Beyond the awards, the competition provided our students with a valuable opportunity to apply their Civil Engineering knowledge in a practical setting, while exploring the relationship between concrete performance, material efficiency and resource recovery. Through the challenge, students gained greater appreciation of how engineering innovation and the use of recycled materials can contribute towards more sustainable approaches to construction.
