Singapore Polytechnic is proud to celebrate three of our Diploma in Landscape Architecture (DLA) students—Jasmine, Jing Ying, and Jie Ying—whose Final Year Projects were recently spotlighted in Lianhe Zaobao on 12 April 2026.
The feature explores the students' aspirations for Singapore's evolution into a "City in Nature." Their designs move beyond traditional aesthetics, focusing on the mechanical integration of biodiversity into urban spaces:
Biodiversity-Centric Design: Jie Ying’s project explores landscape architectural solutions for the safety and movement of Pangolins.
Harmonious Coexistence: Jing Ying’s research emphasizes the necessity for residents to interact with wildlife, such as Hornbills, at a respectful and sustainable distance.
Ecological Balance: Jasmine’s work integrates the Eagles’ food web into urban design to enhance the overall wellness and ecological health of city spaces.
The students’ work reflects a sophisticated understanding of modern urban challenges. As Jasmine noted in the feature, urban design is the tool that allows us to bypass the false choice between development and conservation.
