Characterization of expressed soursop seed oil for topical application in skincare | Elangovan Hari Prasath, Darrell Ng Huin Wai, Kuah Qi Xin , Mohammed Anees s/o Feizel Mohammed

Soursop seed oil, derived from the seeds of the Annona muricata tree, has gained attention for its potential health benefits and use in skincare products. The antioxidants in soursop seed oil help neutralise harmful compounds called free radicals, which can damage cells. These antioxidants may contribute to reducing the risk of diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. The skin benefits of soursop oil include moisturising skin, reducing inflammation for sensitive skin, enhancing skin elasticity and promoting skin regeneration.  The project aims to determine the most cost effective method of extracting soursop seed oil, the optimum storage and shelf life of the soursop seed oil.

Exploring the Commercial Potential of Soursop Fruit Fermentation | Foo Jiyu, Lim Yi Jie Ryan, Gerard Ong Bing Liang

Soursop, also known as graviola or guanabana, has gained popularity due to its tropical taste and health benefits. The soursop wine is made by fermenting the fruit pulp with yeast, resulting in a sweet and sour taste. It caters to consumers seeking novel and health-conscious beverage options. The project aims to develop a fermentation process for the commercial production of soursop wine. The resulting fermented liquor will be characterized and evaluated using sensory science techniques.
