On 14 March 2026, Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBS) students partnered with Singapore Heart Foundation to take the lead in community health advocacy at the Stay Young, Nourished and Connected (SYNC) Health Fest 2026. Held at Heartbeat@Bedok, the event brought science beyond the classroom, connecting students directly with the community through meaningful health outreach. With Year 1 and Year 2 students working side by side, the event became a shared learning experience where juniors gained confidence while seniors stepped up as mentors.
Students actively engaged residents by providing free blood pressure screenings and leading interactive activities such as the "Healthy Plate Assembly Game" and personalized sharing sessions. Through these interactions, they helped residents better understand hypertension risks and the importance of balanced nutrition in a simple and relatable way. By translating biomedical concepts into everyday language, DBS students empowered individuals to take charge of their health.
Beyond health education, DBS students also led a CPR learning station, guiding participants through hands-on resuscitation techniques and introducing the myResponder App — a platform that enables the public to respond to nearby cardiac emergencies. This empowers individuals to step in and make a difference during the critical first moments before professional responders arrive.
This experience reflects how DBS students step up as healthcare advocates, bridging knowledge and action in real-world settings.
