Biomedical Science Students Excel at the YLLSoM Incision Challenge 2026

Kudos to students from our Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBS) course for their outstanding performance at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine on 21 June 2026 (Qualifying Round) and 27 June 2026 (Final Round). The Incision Challenge is a national-level competition that brings together aspiring medical and healthcare students from junior colleges, polytechnics and pre-medical programmes to demonstrate their clinical reasoning and hands-on surgical skills through practical challenges.

Ten DBS students powered their way to the Final Round – and Hafiz Haris Foo and his teammates from other institutions brought home a Second Place finish. Let’s hear it our students themselves:

"Round 2 was a fantastic experience, especially the hands-on stations on suturing, ligation and laparoscopy. It gave me a greater appreciation for cardiothoracic surgery, and I would definitely recommend this challenge to juniors interested in pursuing medicine."

Lee Jia Hang
Year 3 student

"Advancing to Round 2 strengthened my aspiration to pursue medicine. The hands-on surgical activities and interactions with doctors and medical students gave me a deeper appreciation of both the science and practice of medicine."

Liow Xin Yu
Year 1 student
