Congratulations to Josef Tan Kai Heng, a current EEE Diploma in Computer Engineering (DCPE) student, for receiving the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Gold Award!
Josef has made significant contributions through initiatives that combine technology, creativity, and social impact. Notably, he taught AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and AI skills to migrant workers, helping them upskill — an often-overlooked challenge in Singapore’s workforce.
His passion for sustainability also grew through the NYAA Outdoor Appreciation component. Under the HSBC–NYAA ITE SME Sustainability Initiative, he collaborated with companies to reduce carbon emissions and is now planning to extend his advocacy globally, starting with youth environmental education in South Africa.
Reflecting on his journey, Josef shared:
“It’s not just about completing a programme or receiving an award. It’s about living meaningfully, giving back to others, and creating spaces where everyone has the opportunity to grow.”
Josef’s achievement is an inspiration to fellow students and a testament to EEE’s holistic education, empowering students to apply their skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in society.
