School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) proudly celebrates the achievements of its students at the 20th International Standards Olympiad, held in South Korea from 12 to 14 August 2025. Organised by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) and the Korean Standards Association (KSA), the Olympiad promotes global awareness of standardisation and its role in enhancing safety, convenience, and technological advancement.
This year’s challenge for the High School category required participants to develop standards on “Robotics – Safety requirements for humanoid robots in industrial manufacturing applications” within a demanding 8-hour timeframe, without internet access. Teams were assessed based on their written submissions and oral presentations.
Among the 20 participating teams from 10 countries—including Korea, China, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Uzbekistan—two SP teams, endorsed by Enterprise Singapore, represented Singapore with distinction.
Congratulations to the following students for their outstanding achievements and their hard work.

“Representing Singapore and SP at this competition has been an extraordinary honour and privilege. The journey—from months of intensive training to the competition itself - proved both enriching and transformative as we discovered the profound impact that standards have on our daily lives. During our three days in Korea, we not only applied our knowledge in real-world contexts but also forged meaningful friendships with participants from across the globe. This experience has deepened our understanding of how international standards shape the world around us”, shared Fabian from Team Kaya Toast.
Similarly, Gao En from Team Temasek reflected that, “This competition provided a truly memorable learning experience that extended far beyond the contest itself. Whilst we relished the opportunity to apply our knowledge and skills against international teams, the most valuable aspect was exploring the far-reaching implications of emerging technologies such as AI and humanoid robots on our world. The experience offered us a deeper appreciation of how standards will evolve to govern these transformative technologies. It has been a summer we shall all treasure - one filled with friendship, learning, and unforgettable memories.”
Both student teams expressed deep gratitude for the steadfast support from SP and Enterprise Singapore throughout their journey. Their success was made possible through the dedicated guidance of EEE staff members Goh Say Seng, Than Keng Hwa, and Elaine Soo, whose mentorship proved invaluable in preparing the teams for this international competition.
