DCE Students Clinch 2nd Runner-up at Built Environment Case Competition 2026

Students from Singapore Polytechnic's Diploma in Civil Engineering (DCE) achieved an impressive 2nd Runner-up placing at the Built Environment Case Competition 2026 (BECC) held on 15 August 2026 at Bridge+ @ Geneo, Science Park Drive.

Organised by the NUS Civil Engineering Club in collaboration with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Real Estate Developers' Association of Singapore (REDAS), BECC 2026 focused on the theme "Singapore 2050 – Designing Inclusive and Smart Living Futures." The competition attracted 17 teams from institutes across Singapore, with only six finalist teams selected to present their proposals before a panel of industry judges. Demonstrating strong analytical thinking, innovation, and teamwork, the DCE team distinguished themselves among the finalists and secured the 2nd Runner-up position. The award-winning team comprised with he following year 3 students, namely: • Darra Lee Yun Qin • Julia Soe Win • Tan Hui Jie • Tan Yu Kai Ralph The team was guided by industry mentor Mr Benjamin Lee Sze Chong, a DCSE alumnus from Teambuild Construction Group, whose mentorship provided valuable industry insights throughout the competition.This achievement reflects the students' commitment to tackling real-world built environment challenges while developing innovative solutions for future communities. Their success serves as a testament to the quality of learning, industry collaboration, and talent development opportunities within the Diploma in Civil Engineering programme.Congratulations to our students on this outstanding accomplishment.
