Applied Chemistry Students Gain Insights at NUS Chemistry in the Frontiers Science Lecture Series

On 20 May 2026, a group of Year 3 students from the Diploma in Applied Chemistry (DAPC) course were invited to attend the Frontier of Science lecture series organised by the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Chemistry.

The seminar provided the students with valuable exposure to cutting-edge research that bridges classroom learning with real-world applications. Topics included the potential use of semiconducting polymers in spintronics, as well as breakthrough work in skeletal editing of molecules and base-metal catalysis.

Reflecting on the experience, Joel Sham shared, “It was eye-opening to witness research works bridging classroom knowledge and impactful applications in the industry.”

The seminar enabled students to gain a deeper appreciation of how scientific research translates into innovation and real-world impact.
