From 7 to 9 October 2025, a group of students from the Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBS) course embarked on an enriching overseas learning trip to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in Kuala Lumpur. Over three inspiring days, they explored both the scientific and cultural landscapes of Malaysia.
The trip began with visits to Merdeka Square, the River of Life, and the Petronas Twin Towers, offering a glimpse into the city’s history and heritage. At UKM’s Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and Institute of Systems biology (INBIOSIS), Dr. Izyanti Ibrahim, Associate Professor Dr. Ng Chyan Leong and their teams led interactive lab sessions in biochemistry, bioinformatics, and biotechnology, giving students valuable hands-on research experience.

The students also visited the Faculty of Medicine, where Associate Professor Dr Ruslinda Mustafar, Deputy Dean, shared insights into nurturing future healthcare professionals. A tour of the Biobank and Physiotherapy Department at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz further deepened their understanding of biomedical applications in real healthcare settings.

“The KL trip was truly an eye-opening experience that went beyond classroom learning.”
