Lianhe Zaobao, 21 July 2026 - A total of 30 young Singaporeans and public officers have been awarded the Singapore Sustainability Scholarship to help build expertise in areas critical to the country's long-term resilience, including coastal protection, food and water security, and nuclear safety. Speaking at the scholarship award ceremony, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Ms Grace Fu said Singapore has designated this year as the "Year of Climate Adaptation" to underscore the urgent need to prepare for extreme weather and systemic climate risks. She encouraged the scholarship recipients to contribute innovative solutions that will strengthen Singapore's sustainability efforts. Among the recipients is Joel Kwok, 21, an SP Diploma in Food Science & Technology alumnus (Class of 2025) who will pursue a degree in the same field at the NUS before joining the SFA.
