The School of Chemical & Life Sciences successfully organised the Smart and Sustainable AI-Powered Food Product Development Competition on 12 August 2026.

The competition brought together 13 teams comprising 44 students from ITE, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic. Students showcased their creativity and food product development knowledge while integrating sustainability and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their concepts.

Organised with Mintel, the competition encouraged students to explore AI for ideation, consumer trends, market opportunities and sustainable food product development.

The competition also received strong support from industry partners. We would like to thank the five judges from Bee Cheng Hiang, IFF Food Ingredients, Mottainai Food Tech, Roquette and Mintel for sharing their expertise and valuable insights. Our appreciation also goes to the sponsors Bee Cheng Hiang, Chee Seng Oil , Mintel and The Noodle Factory (Hiap Giap) for their generous support. Singapore Polytechnic’s Food Innovation & Resource Centre (FIRC) also provided technical support.

Congratulations to our winners: Grand Champion – C Cube (Singapore Polytechnic); Runner-Up – SoYummy (Singapore Polytechnic); Best Sustainability Impact – Deepdish AI (Nanyang Polytechnic); and Best AI – Shengjianbao (Ngee Ann Polytechnic).
