Two EEE teams, Robo-Erectus SML and Robo-Erectus HSL, represented Singapore at RoboCup 2026, held at Incheon, South Korea, from 30 Jun to 6 Jul 2026. Team Robo-Erectus SML achieved 2nd Place in the inaugural edition of Smart Manufacturing League (SML), amid competition from Germany, South Korea, the Netherlands, Japan and Brazil This featured more sophisticated manufacturing challenges including workbench-based assembly, object recycling, autonomous planning and delivery of products from workstations to customer counters.
In the Humanoid Soccer League (HSL), Team Robo-Erectus HSL was in the Top 10 among teams from China, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Macau, Italy and the United States. The team also achieved 4th and 6th Place in Open Research Challenge, presenting research area in “Debug Dashboard” and “Testing a Robot Without a Robot”.
These achievements underscored Team Robo-Erectus' technical excellence, innovation, and dedication in developing advanced autonomous robotic systems. The team's strong performance against leading international universities and research institutions further strengthened Singapore's reputation in robotics research and highlighted the EEE Robotics Team's continued commitment to excellence in robotics education, research, and international competition.
Established in 1997, RoboCup is the world's premier international robotics competition and scientific initiative dedicated to advancing robotics and artificial intelligence through autonomous robot competitions. It brings together leading universities, research institutes, and industry teams from around the world to develop, benchmark, and showcase state-of-the-art robotic technologies. The competition encompasses multiple leagues, including robot soccer, industrial and service robotics, rescue robotics, and home robotics, providing a platform for advancing research in autonomous perception, navigation, manipulation, decision-making, and multi-robot collaboration. Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious competitions in robotics, RoboCup serves as a benchmark for innovation and technological excellence in autonomous robotic systems.
