SP EEE Team Wins 3rd Place at SAUVC 2026 in China

A team of students from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Singapore Polytechnic, achieved an impressive 3rd Place, among an international field of competitors, at the Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) 2026, held from 28 to 31 May 2026 at the Aofei Culture & Sports Group Sanya Yazhou Sports Park and Citizen Fitness Centre, Sanya, China.

SAUVC is an international competition supported by the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) Singapore Chapter and jointly organised by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore Polytechnic since 2013. For the first time, the competition was held overseas in conjunction with the IEEE OCEANS Conference in Sanya, China.

The competition challenged teams to design and build an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) capable of performing tasks that simulate real-world underwater operations. Teams were assessed on their ability to navigate autonomously, identify visual targets, localise acoustic signals, and manipulate underwater objects with speed and accuracy.

Team Aquanox

  • Benedict Chen Hung Han (DCPE Year 3)
  • Raakin Manjur (DCPE Year 3)
  • Gonzales Ethan Von Andrei De Leon (DEEE Year 3)
  • Aaron Tan Yong Jing (DEEE Year 3)

The team was supervised by Dr M. Fikret Ercan.

This achievement reflects the students' dedication, engineering expertise, and innovation in the field of autonomous underwater systems. Congratulations to Team Aquanox on their outstanding performance at SAUVC 2026!
