Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA), Singapore Polytechnic, has once again been recognised on the international stage, clinching the prestigious Best Maritime Training Institute award at the 24th ShipTek International Awards 2026. This marks the second consecutive year that SMA has received this distinguished accolade, reaffirming its position as a leading maritime education and training institution in the region and beyond.
The ShipTek International Awards are widely regarded as one of the maritime industry's premier recognition platforms, celebrating organisations and individuals who have demonstrated excellence, innovation and impactful contributions to the global maritime sector.
Receiving this award for a second successive year reflects SMA's continued commitment to delivering quality maritime education and training, while staying responsive to the rapidly evolving needs of the industry. Over the years, the Academy has strengthened its capabilities in seafarer education, professional development, maritime simulation training, alternative marine fuels competency training, digitalisation initiatives, and industry-focused continuing education programmes.
The award also recognises SMA's strong partnerships with industry stakeholders, regulatory agencies and international collaborators, which have enabled the Academy to remain at the forefront of maritime workforce development and innovation.
Capt. Chatur Wahyu, Director of Singapore Maritime Academy, said:
