The Straits Times, 19 August 2026 - SP has launched CASTLE (Cybersecurity Assessment and Security Operations Centre Training Lab for Enterprises), a new initiative that enables students to gain real-world cybersecurity experience by providing ethical hacking and penetration testing services to SMEs. SP is the first institute of higher learning in Singapore to receive a licence from the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) to offer regulated penetration testing services, allowing students to work on actual cybersecurity challenges under professional supervision. The programme combines cybersecurity consultancy, vulnerability assessments, security operations, and awareness training to help SMEs strengthen their cyber resilience while preparing students for industry.
About 540 SP students are expected to benefit from the initiative , and around 50 SMEs are projected to receive cybersecurity services and training by mid-2027. RP is also strengthening its own cybersecurity capabilities through industry-focused training. RP's School of Infocomm offers specialised programmes in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics, giving students hands-on learning opportunities to prepare for careers in the fast-growing cybersecurity sector.
