January 18, 2024

The Liveability Challenge (TLC) is back!

TLC is a global platform that hunts for and accelerates the launch of innovative solutions to urban challenges of the 21st century in cities in the tropics. The Challenge is Asia's biggest prize for sustainability solutions, and a key highlight in Singapore's calendar of sustainability events. With six editions successfully concluded, Temasek Foundation and Eco-Business will deliver a new edition in 2024 to accelerate urban transformation and generate quantifiable impact by providing more than S$2 million in funding and incubation opportunities on two main tracks – Climate Change and Food & Nutrition.

Challenge Theme: Food & Nutrition

TLC is looking for innovative solutions that can enhance food resilience and safety in three critical areas: Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Alternative Nutrition Sources.

We are seeking for breakthrough technologies to provide affordable, nutrient-dense and safe foods. The winner of this track will receive S$1 million in grant funding.

TLC is looking for solutions that:

  • Deliver breakthroughs in maximising production yield while minimising resource requirements and waste outputs (e.g. lower energy consumption, minimal carbon emissions), in at least one or a combination of these areas critical for food resilience: agriculture, aquaculture and alternative nutrition;
  • Deliver breakthroughs in extending the shelf life of perishable food, without compromise on food safety;
  • Produce foods with improved quality of essential nutrients without compromise on taste and texture.

Food and Nutrition
