A significant partnership has been established in Singapore between A*STAR’s Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) and SP’s Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety (CEMS) to enhance navigational safety at sea. Under a three-year Memorandum of Understanding, the collaboration focuses on developing innovative technological solutions and training systems, such as advanced modelling, simulation and intelligent traffic simulation, to reduce maritime accidents and prepare a future-ready workforce equipped to handle complex port environments. This partnership leverages IHPC’s expertise in computational methods and simulation alongside SP’s maritime safety training and human-centric technologies, helping seafarers and maritime professionals gain the skills needed for evolving challenges including digitalisation and autonomous vessel operations.
