BCA will introduce licensing system to gradually strengthen supervision of elevators and illegal buildings within 3 years

BCA will introduce a licensing framework and progressively strengthen lift and building regulations over the next three years. The authority will further optimise the CORENET X approval process to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of Singapore’s construction industry, as well as to create a more conducive business environment for construction companies. CORENET X is Singapore’s regulatory approval system for the construction industry. It streamlines approval processes, promotes cross-agency collaboration, and drives digital transformation in the sector. As part of this initiative, SP has also set up a “CORENET X Zone” in its exhibition area at Bex Asia 2025, showcasing how the polytechnic uses courses to guide students in adopting digital submission processes and building information modelling to advance the digitalisation of approval workflows. Ms Fiona Tan, Senior Lecturer at SP’s School of Architecture & the Built Environment, said that CORENET X courses are targeted at industry professionals such as architects and engineers. Participants generally find the courses useful in helping them understand the processes, reduce uncertainties, and recognise the efficiency gains brought about by upstream collaboration.
