Building a memory wall to celebrate 70th anniversary of Queenstown Secondary School, Few alumni return

Queenstown Secondary School, originally founded in 1956 as Queenstown Technical School, welcomed more than 100 alumni back for a homecoming event featuring campus tours and clay-art activities. As one of Singapore’s earliest technical schools, it offered industrial drafting, mechanical principles and hands-on workshop training, preparing students for the nation’s early industrialisation. Early alumni recalled learning metalwork and carpentry, as well as being taught by instructors who were simultaneously studying at SP, bringing “freshly learned” technical knowledge into the classroom. Many graduates progressed to SP for further technical education and later became part of Singapore’s industrial backbone, joining agencies such as PWD and PUB.
