Lin Yongjie, a senior technician at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and an SP Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering alumnus, conducts hydrographic surveys using a multibeam echosounder to map the seabed across Singapore waters. His work, which blends both outdoor and office tasks, supports nautical chart updates, port planning, coastal management, and historical research. Data collected by his team has also aided the National Heritage Board in locating shipwrecks. Although his current role differs from his field of study, Lin was drawn to it after National Service due to his passion for the outdoors.
