Entrepreneur Shares ITE Lecturer’s Advice with Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Mr Mohammed Farhan Mohd Firdaus felt alienated and uncertain when he first set foot on the old campus of the now-defunct Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Bishan more than two decades ago. At the time, he was just 16, and his family was under financial strain after his father suffered a stroke. While pursuing an administration course, he worked part-time to support his family. Now 39, Mr Farhan credits his time at ITE as a turning point that eventually prompted him to start a business in 2019. With the support he received—ranging from words of encouragement to opportunities that exposed him to the world of business—he went on to establish Meet Ventures, a consulting and investment company focused on early-stage startups and market access in Asia. Mr Farhan holds a Diploma in Business Administration from SP, a Bachelor of Social Science (Political Science) from Singapore Management University (SMU), and a Master of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
