20-year-old Alexavier Koh, an SP Media, Arts & Design School student, will be Singapore’s sole kickboxing representative at the upcoming SEA Games in Thailand. With strict selection criteria requiring athletes to rank top three in Southeast Asia — and limited regional competitions forcing costly trips to Europe — Koh was the only one who qualified. Despite medal pressure, Koh says he aims to focus on performing well. He had no martial arts background before entering SP three years ago, where he first picked up Muay Thai. Under coach Nazri, he transitioned into kickboxing and quickly excelled, earning his place on the national team.
