‘It hit us hard:’ S’pore Poly duo, 18, on how they lost nearly all their ice bath startup’s funds but bounced back

An SP duo aged just 18, Tian Le Binod Gurung and Vikhil Dilipkumar Mahtani, co‑founded 2047sg, a wellness brand selling and renting ice baths and saunas, drawing on their own fitness needs and trends. Shortly after launching in June 2025, they invested nearly all their funds (about S$10,000) into a lifestyle club project that ultimately fell through, creating a major setback. Despite the challenge and balancing academic commitments, they persisted and eventually broke even. The students credit much of their business success to practical skills learned at SP’s School of Business — such as using Google Trends, the Business Model Canvas, and participating in the “Business Essentials Through Action (BETA)” module — which helped them with real‑world research, planning and entrepreneurship. Their experience illustrates how polytechnic education can translate into hands‑on business capability and resilience in the face of early setbacks.
