Young Singaporean founders AL Hong of Digi-Up! and Zhang Yimei of Clarity Technology chose entrepreneurship rather than following a conventional graduate job path. Hong’s social enterprise helps seniors build digital literacy and confidence, using gamified tools such as board games to teach topics including scam awareness and digital finance. Zhang’s venture grew from creative emotional-wellness workshops into a platform exploring AI, neuroscience and brain-computer interface technologies for emotional and sleep wellness. Both faced scepticism as young founders but built credibility through pilots, competitions, networking and continuously improving their ideas. SP played an important role in Hong’s journey. She was one of SP’s top graduates of 2025 and graduated from its Diploma in Media, Arts & Design (DMAD). Her concern about seniors being left behind by rapid digitalisation inspired Digi-Up!, while hackathons and competitions organised by SP and other organisations helped support the venture in its early stages. Their experiences highlight entrepreneurship as another form of career readiness, where graduates can create opportunities rather than only apply for existing jobs.
