More than 8,000 internships and training opportunities have been established in Singapore's data centre sector, driven by a national initiative to develop AI-ready capabilities. ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) will offer internships at several institutions, including SP, aiming to provide practical experience in various fields. Announced on 26 January, this programme supports young entrants in a competitive job market, along with advanced training like a virtual reality system for data centre operations. Additionally, STT GDC introduced the FutureGrid Accelerator, a pioneering platform for testing high-voltage direct current technology, enhancing energy efficiency for AI needs. With data centres' energy demand predicted to double by 2030, there is a growing importance on training talent in technology and engineering disciplines to address this industry's requirements.
