Justin Tan, a final-year SP Diploma in Biomedical Science student, is the youngest volunteer in Sengkang General Hospital’s Night Watchers programme, which supports hospital staff during overnight shifts from 9 pm to 6 am. Volunteering one night a week since 2023, he describes it as “an authentic experience of the realities of healthcare” and says it has strengthened his interest in pursuing a medical career. The programme, launched in 2023, has involved about 10 volunteers aged 19 to 49, with some contributing over 12 hours in 2025, helping to enhance patient care during night shifts.
