SP is equipping the next generation of maritime professionals through its Diploma in Nautical Studies (DNS) and Diploma in Marine Engineering (DMR), which combine classroom learning with extensive hands-on training. DNS students train on advanced bridge simulators that recreate challenging sea conditions before completing 12 months of sea service aboard ships. The programme is available only through the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) or Direct Admissions Exercise, with applicants required to pass an eyesight test, interview, and aptitude assessment. Instead of a traditional internship or final-year project, students earn a Class 3 Deck Certificate of Competency, preparing them to become navigation officers. Meanwhile, SP's Diploma in Marine Engineering, established in 1961, trains students for careers in maintaining ships and supporting Singapore's port operations. The course offers shore and sea pathways, with the sea track including onboard training and vessel attachments. Students develop multidisciplinary skills across marine engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, and naval architecture through practical, industry-focused learning.
