[SG60 Special] A confused young man who once took things one step at a time has become a caring sower

Once a struggling student who consistently failed English, 56-year-old Zhuang Wenxiang lacked confidence and drifted through life with no clear goals. After scoring E8 for English in his O-levels, he faced multiple rejections from schools. SP gave him a rare opportunity to study Mechanical Engineering on the condition that he retake English and score at least D7 to graduate. Through extra tuition, he met the requirement, graduated with good results, and discovered a passion for mechanical engineering. After national service and a year as an architectural draftsman, he earned a degree in mechanical engineering from NTU. For nearly 30 years, Zhuang has worked at a listed local high-tech company, now serving as head of quality management overseeing multimillion-dollar global and local operations. Grateful for the opportunities he received, he has also dedicated 38 years to community service in Singapore and abroad, aiming to build a caring society that “loves others as oneself.”
