Standard Chartered has launched a new cross-border banking package to help SMEs in Singapore and Malaysia take advantage of opportunities in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). The package includes six months of free outward telegraphic transfers, interest optimisation, and access to the bank’s ecosystem partners. Singapore-based SME investments into Malaysia facilitated by the bank have more than quadrupled over the past year. One company highlighted is Stolz Engineering, which expanded into Malaysia in 2024 and is exploring AI-related opportunities, including energy-efficient cooling solutions with SP. The company also uses IoT and digitalisation technologies and plans to expand its cooling-tower business in Malaysia.
