Student designs a classroom to encourage students to be calmer and more independent

Concerned about the academic burden increasingly placed on primary school students, SP Diploma in Interior Design graduand Ms Syazmira Samsaimond took on the challenge of revamping the design of classrooms and learning spaces. Over eight months, from July 2025 to February 2026, the 20-year-old conducted research at a primary school in Tampines. She sought the views of teachers and collaborated with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the SP User Experience Centre (UXC). Her final-year project, Kapsool, which is a classroom and learning space equipped with special featuresdesigned to relieve stress, foster independent learning, and enhance student well-being, was among 182 projects exhibited at the SP School of Architecture & the Built Environment (ABE) end-of-year event, which took place on 12, 13, and 16 March.
