SP manages its campus waste through a comprehensive strategy combining audits, awareness campaigns, and innovative technology. According to Joseph Teo, SP’s Senior Director for Special Projects and Student & Academic Affairs, of the 480,000 kg of campus waste, 20,000 kg was diverted from disposal. The polytechnic conducts waste audits to collect data, identify actionable insights, and develop diversion strategies, including student-led educational initiatives. SP also operates a food digester that converts food waste into water, reducing the amount sent to Pulau Semakau for incineration.
