What You Will Learn

Preparing for emerging climate changes prompt Organisations to increasingly report their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, identify and implement measures to reduce their carbon footprints, apply adaptation techniques, and actively manage such activities to bring about climate-change-busting actions.

Hence, this course focuses on the application of related standards, including International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 14064, ISO 14068, and ISO 14090, specifically developed to help organisations manage their GHG emissions, and address the risks associated with climate change.

By end of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Outline the impact of climate change and organisations’ role of mitigating and adapting to it.
  2. Define and develop a framework implementing a Carbon Management Plan and obtain Top Management buy-in.
  3. Determine a suitable GHG reporting boundary; taking into account emission scopes and life cycle perspective.
  4. Plan data collection and calculate GHG emissions.
  5. Define and support the formation and establishment of an Implementation team.
  6. Describe resources, support, and competence the Implementation team requires.
  7. Outline key differences between ISO 14064-1 vs GHG Protocol
  8. Integrate ISO 14064-1 requirements into related Management systems, such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
  9. Establish the role of Top Management and evaluate their commitment to Carbon Management planning.
  10. Identify and plan a range of actions to mitigate GHG emissions, including GHG reductions, GHG removals, and actions by others.
  11. Develop credible baseline scenarios demonstrating reduction and removal of future GHG emissions.
  12. Identify and assess climate change risks, for determining climate action (Mitigation vs Adaptation).
  13. Document and assess effectiveness of Carbon Management plans.

Topics to be covered
  • Impact of Climate Change
  • Carbon Management Plan
  • Setting Boundaries for your GHG Inventory
  • Data Collection and Calculation of GHG Emissions
  • Actions to Mitigate GHG Emissions
  • Develop Baseline Scenarios
  • Climate Change Risks

  2. Carbon Management Planning leading to Greenhouse Gas Practitioner
  3. Greenhouse Gas Verification and Validation (ISO 14064-3:2019) leading to Greenhouse Gas Practitioner

Note
It is recommended that participants register for the 3 courses at the same time and are required to complete and pass the assessments in sequence to be awarded the qualification.

Validity of courses

  • Participants to complete all three courses within 1 year for Practitioner qualification
