What You Will Learn

The aim of this module is to impart to the students the knowledge and understanding of the properties and applications of some common engineering materials such as steels, aluminium, plastic and elastomers, by covering; testing of the properties; concepts of stress and strain; effect of chemical composition & microstructure on properties and applications; heat treatments and materials processing. This module provides the foundation in the selection of materials in engineering design and fabrication.
