Course Objective

This course explores the nuances of writing emails, memos, meeting minutes, and letters with a focus on leveraging Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to enhance workplace communication. Participants will learn how to use AI tools for crafting complete, concise, clear, courteous, and correct-tailored documents to intended purposes, audiences, and context.

They will also discover how the technology can identify key points and emphasise them to strengthen the persuasiveness of their writing, while structuring content to capture the reader's attention.

Additionally, common grammar mistakes, in business writing, are addressed. Interactive activities, quizzes, practical exercises, case studies, and role-plays will facilitate hands-on experience in applying AI-assisted writing techniques to real-world workplace scenarios.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify key principles of effective business writing, including clarity, conciseness, and tone – prior to the use of GenAI.
  2. Explain the technology's role enhancing workplace writing, focusing on document structure, tone, and persuasiveness.
  3. Tailor communication to different audiences and contexts, with suitable AI prompts.
  4. Utilise AI tools to draft and refine emails, memos, meeting minutes, as well as letters.
  5. Structure and highlight key points for making more persuasive documents, with GenAI.
  6. Assess AI-generated documents' effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement.
  7. Break down the components of well-crafted business documents, such as audience alignment and key message emphasis.
  8. Critique business writing samples based on clarity, conciseness, and alignment with intended goals.
  9. Synthesise learned techniques and AI capabilities to create well-structured, persuasive, and error-free workplace communications.
  10. Design a portfolio of workplace documents enhanced through AI tools, showcasing effective communication strategies.
