A Part of Singapore's Heritage — The Moberly Block

Did you know that the Singapore Polytechnic campus is built on the site of the former Princess Mary Barracks which was occupied by British and Malayan soldiers from 1951 to the early 1970s?

While the campus today looks nothing like a barracks, there is one military building that was preserved - The Moberly Block, located behind T10. The building used to house SP's Civil Engineering and Building Department and also the School of Nautical Studies. It was later refurbished in 2008 into a student activities hub.

A section of the building even houses a museum which displays memorabilia such as military insignia, old trophies and teaching aids donated by former soldiers and school alumni and staff.
