5 win Microsoft scholarship for disabled

21 Sep 2015

The Straits Times, 19 Sep 2015 - SP’s Diploma in Business Information Technology student, Mohamed Najulah, was one of five recipients of this year’s Microsoft YouthSpark Scholarship. Launched in 2009 and administered by voluntary welfare organisation SPD, the scholarship supports promising youth with disabilities who are taking diploma or degree courses in fields related to IT. Mohamed Najulah, who was born with brittle bone disease, has already shown his IT-savviness by creating an app called Happy Wheel during a hackathon earlier this year. The app allows users to share wheelchair-accessible routes with one another. Similar story was reported in Lianhe Zaobao and MIS Asia. Shin Min Daily News also reported on the award and interviewed a NYP alumnus.
