Design ace prefers the road less travelled

The Straits Times, 20 Oct 2014 - SP Diploma in Creative Media Design graduate, Mr Justin Tan, was featured in a weekly column on young successful entrepreneurs. Mr Tan was a top graduate in 2009 and went on to clinch a DesignSingapore scholarship to study communication design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. After graduating with distinction last year, he proceeded to set up his own design and innovation agency, Apt811. Mr Tan also shared how SP provided the opportunities for him to pursue his passion for design. During his time in SP, he was a pioneer in setting up The Student Agency which is run by students with the guidance of lecturers to work on real-life projects. He also picked up a string of awards in major global and regional design competitions, such as the YoungGuns and Crowbar Awards. As recognition of his efforts in contributing back to SP, Mr Tan was one of the 43 recipients of the Alumni Service to SP Award last month.
