Increase in demand for network security professionals, but they are in short supply

Channel 8 News, 26 Oct 2015 - News clip mentioned that the local demand for network security services is increasing. While tertiary institutions have increased their student intake for network security courses, professionals in this area of expertise are still in short supply. The clip also mentioned that SP’s Diploma in Infocomm Security (DISM) course have increased its student intake from 60 students two years ago, to its current intake of 80 students. The School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology will also set up a Specialist Diploma in Cyber Security Management for adult learners this year. DISM lecturer Dr Lu Liming opined that the demand for network security professionals has not been met, and that a lot of companies seek network security courses to enhance their employees’ knowledge in this field.
