More PMETs are willing to upskill themselves

Channel 8 News, 5 May 2017 - Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry), Mr S Iswaran, mentioned at SP’s 57th Graduation Ceremony that the continuing education academies such as SP’s Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy plays an important role in equipping the workforce with relevant skills for the industry. More than 650 PMETs graduated in this ceremony, an increase of 25% compared to last year. They are among the 5,600 graduates who will receive their full-time diploma, advanced diploma, specialist diploma and certificate. SP offers seven Professional Conversion Programmes (PCPs) to fresh entrants, mid-careerists, displaced or unemployed PMETs with no relevant background in the sector, including the Development and Apprenticeship (DNA) Programme for the biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector that could generate more than 300 job opportunities over the next three years.
