NS servicemen may get postings to match their skills

The Straits Times, 26 Aug 2014 - Male ITE and poly grads could be posted to national service (NS) vocations that match their studies. The Aspire committee said in its report yesterday that it supports a recommendation of the Committee to Strengthen National Service to take into account the skills and prior training of full-time national servicemen in their NS deployment. SP’s Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering (DARE) lecturer and graduate, Mr Teo Ye Wei, opined on his experience of being posted as a flight line crew member during his NS deployment. Mr Teo supported the recommendation by the Aspire committee as it would give more students the chance to go into vocations that suit their skills.
