Polytechnic students create the Singapore Scent

Shinmin Daily News, 21 Oct 2014 - This article traces the evolution of SP’s Diploma in Perfumery and Cosmetic Science (DPCS), and features the journey of 3 students, Mandy Ng, Leroy Wong and Tan Ying Jie from DPCS. The students talked about their love for chemistry, and how the course has helped them develop a keener sense of smell. Leroy Wong shared how he overcame his parents’ objection to join a course that is more populated by female students to pursue his passion in perfumery science. Mandy Ng talked about her internship experience in Shanghai, and also shared her FYP creation. DPCS Course Chair Low Bee Lee shared how the course can train students to excel in the industry and find out what the market needs through Design Thinking. The article also mentioned that DPCS students have helped formulate and produce ‘Splash’, the perfume to celebrate SP’s 60th anniversary.
