SP Design School students turned passion into dream

03 May 2016

Lianhe Zaobao, 3 May 2016 - Article featured SP Design School outstanding graduands – Diploma in Interior Design (DID) graduand Yip Jing Wei and Diploma in Games Design and Development (DGDD) graduand Terence Ng. Jing Wei shared how she got posted to SP’s Diploma in Interior Design even though it was not one of her twelve choices. She did well for the Design and Technology subject in secondary school but only wished to go to pursue the JC route which she deemed as a safer education route. She was not interested in the DID course until year 2 where the encouragement and guidance by her lecturer Mr Kelly Lee fuelled her interest in interior design. She commented that not all students are aware of their interest during secondary school days and if they are willing to learn, they are still able to benefit from their course. She will be pursuing an architecture degree in NUS. Unlike Jing Wei, Terence Ng knew that he was passionate in game design and felt that a good game can illustrate a good story and captivate the audience. He was determined to enrol in the game development course even though he scored 10 points for his ‘O’ Levels and his parents wanted him to enrol into JC. He gathered materials on the game development course to convince his parents who was worried that he might not be to find a job in future. He plans to enrol in a game design course jointly conducted by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and DigiPen Institute of Technology.
