Singapore Polytechnic wins inaugural ASEAN People’s Award

Channel News Asia, 22 Oct 2015 - SP has clinched inaugural ASEAN People’s Award for its contributions toward ASEAN’s community-building efforts. SP is among 10 recipients picked from among ASEAN’s 10 nations. The article mentioned that experiential learning is weaved into the curriculum at SP and that over the past three years, it has also taken on an ASEAN Outreach Thrust which exposes students to a range of community-building programmes. Ms Lim Lee Yee, Director of SP’s School of Communication, Arts and Social Sciences, opined on how students can go beyond the textbook to understand ASEAN’s culture and work with the local community. Each national recipient of the ASEAN People’s Award will receive a US$10,000 (S$13,900) cash grant to encourage them to continue with their activities. The award ceremony will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 27th ASEAN Summit in November.
